Overview
Level 1 Strength & Conditioning CoursesThe Australian Strength & Conditioning Association Level 1 course is designed to prepare coaches dealing with beginner level athletes.
Topics covered in Level 1 Strength & Conditioning include:
- Training & coaching principles
- Planning training
- Assessment of the athlete
- Training the fitness components (speed, strength, power, endurance etc)
- Recovery methods
- Injury prevention & rehabilitation.
The Level 1 Strength & Conditioning course will give you the skills to plan, implement & review physical training sessions that are effective & appropriate for beginner level athletes. This course is a pre-requisite for the level 2 strength & conditioning qualification, which is designed for those dealing with intermediate (state) level athletes.
Mode of delivery
Level 1 Strength & Conditioning is delivered through videostreaming technology. Put simply this means that you download & view videos of classroom lessons from the internet.

IT Requirements
In order to view videostreaming you computer will need to meet the following minimum specifications:

- Browsers IE version 4.01+ (IE v6.0+ or Firefox v2.0+ recommended)
- Windows Media Player v6.4+ (version 9.0+ recommended)

Your internet service provider (ISP) should enable you to receive streaming media. To confirm this simply contact your ISP.
Course Requirements
In order to gain the Level 1 Strength & Conditioning coach qualification, you need to meet the theoretical & practical components outlined below:
- Theory
- Practical
- 10 hrs supervised strength & conditioning coaching
- 20 hrs unsupervised strength & conditioning coaching
Note that your practical supervisor should hold a Level 1 Strength & Conditioning qualification (minimum) &/or posses relevant qualifications &/or experience.
