The Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coaching Course
The Level 1 Australian Strength and Conditioning Association
(ASCA) Coaching Course provides participants with the knowledge and
skills to design and apply programs that will enable beginner level
athletes to improve their sports performance.

procedures and apply basic first aid for basic sports injuries
- Manage and implement a recovery program
- Identify and understand the effect of nutrition and commonly

Note that the Level 1 Strength & Conditioning course is a
pre-requisite for the Level 2 qualification, which is designed to
prepare coaches working with intermediate or state level athletes.
Mode of delivery
The Level 1 Strength and Conditioning coaching course is
delivered online using a variety of learning tools including:
- Voice-over PowerPoint lectures
- Polls
- Discussion forums
- Links to related web sites
- Key articles.
You are able to start the course at any time and work through the
content at your own pace. A facilitator is available to assist with
any technical and/or content queries.
Completion requirements
In order to gain the Level 1 Strength and Conditioning coach
qualification, you need to meet the theoretical and practical
components outlined below:
Theory
- Successfully complete the level 1 course workbook
- Sign and return the ASCA Coaches Code of Ethics Agreement
Form
Practical
- Perform 10 hours of supervised strength and conditioning
coaching and/or observation
- Perform 20 hours of unsupervised strength and conditioning
coaching
Note that your practical supervisor should be an ASCA accredited
coach and/or posses relevant qualifications and experience.
Course cost
The course cost is $350 AUD, which includes 12 months membership
with the
Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) and
registration under the Australian Sports Commission’s
National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).
